Maybe someone said this to me before but now then I realised. "The truth" is not about a fact or doctrine. It's a Person.

Reminds me of what Ravi Zacharias said in a podcast. When you come to church, you didn't come to a place. You came to a Person.

work-life balance

If you're looking at work-life balance, I don't really think you can find a correlation that says the company is more productive or more profitable the longer and harder people work. I don't think that's true. You can find correlations between the quality of life within a corporation and the productivity of its employees. It may sound simple, mundane or pedestrian, but I believe that happy employees are more productive employees than those who are always tired and dragging. We encourage an appropriate work-life balance and wellness in the workplace. We spend a lot of time and attention on that: we have constructive websites to suggest to people that they take care of themselves personally and mentally as well as physically. Certainly, a large part of the mental component is making sure you have appropriate relationships with friends and family.

When we talk about work-life balance, I think I learned that lesson the hard way. I probably have a little guilt that I'm living with, particularly when I spend time with my granddaughter and I ask myself whether I devoted this much time and attention to her mother. But fortunately she grew up well and she's a productive, contributing member of society. She's happy and she's presented me with a great granddaughter, so hopefully I didn't do too much damage in that relationship. But if I had to do it over again, I would spend more time with my children than I did.

a lost love letter

After reading the following news, I hope someone would make a good movie out of this true love story.

A British man and his Spanish former sweetheart have finally married 16 years after they drifted apart, reunited by a love letter lost behind a fireplace for over a decade, reports said on Monday.

Steve Smith and Carmen Ruiz-Perez, both now 42, fell in love 17 years ago when she was a foreign exchange student in Brixham, southwest England, and got engaged after only a year together.

But their relationship ended after she moved France to run a shop in Paris.

A few years later, in a bid to rekindle their love, Smith sent a letter to her mother's home in Spain. It was placed on the mantelpiece, but slipped down behind the fireplace and was lost for over a decade.

The missing missive was only found when builders removed the fireplace during renovation work.

"When I got the letter I didn't phone Steve right away because I was so nervous," Ruiz-Perez told the Herald Express local newspaper.

"I nearly didn't phone him at all. I kept picking up the phone then putting it down again.

"But I knew I had to make the call."

When they were reunited, it was as if time had stood still, said Smith, a factory supervisor.

"When we met again it was like a film. We ran across the airport into each other's arms. We met up and fell in love all over again. Within 30 seconds of setting eyes on each other we were kissing.

"I'm just glad the letter did eventually end up where it was supposed to be," he said, after the couple married last Friday.
